Moroccan women’s soccer team clinched a significant 1-2 victory against the Zambian side in the first leg match of the fourth and final round of African qualifications for the Olympic Games, set to take place in Paris in 2024.

The Lionesses of the Atlas displayed their prowess on the field, with Zineb Redouani initiating the scoring spree with a goal at the 45+1st minute mark. The tension mounted as the clock ticked away, with Rosella Ayane sealing the deal with a last-minute goal at the 45+4th minute. Zambia, refusing to go down without a fight, managed to put one on the board with Lushomo Mweemba finding the net at the 80th minute.

Anticipation now turns to the return match, slated to be held at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on April 9 at 8 PM, where both teams will vie fiercely for victory.

Reflecting on their journey thus far, the Moroccan women’s team had previously emerged victorious against their Tunisian counterparts in the preceding round. Meanwhile, Zambia’s path to this crucial stage saw them triumph over Ghana to secure their spot.

With eyes firmly set on the prize, the Lionesses of the Atlas are determined to clinch one of the coveted two qualifying spots for the upcoming Olympics, exclusively reserved for the African continent. The stakes are high, with the other ticket to Paris up for grabs in a showdown between Nigeria and South Africa.
