Govt Plan for Equality Presented in Rabat

The government plan for equality 2023-2026 “Morocco of leadership, prosperity and values” was presented and discussed at the second meeting of the National Commission for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, held Monday in Rabat under the chairmanship of the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

Speaking at the meeting, Akhannouch recalled the conclusions of the commission’s first meeting, which had been an opportunity to adopt the strategic framework of the government’s 2023-2026 equality plan, emphasizing the importance of the government’s plan to enable women to enjoy their full rights and strengthen gender equality, says a press release from the Head of Government’s department.

On this occasion, the Minister for Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, Aawatif Hayar, presented the broad outlines of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, which is structured around three strategic axes: empowerment and leadership, protection and prosperity, and rights and values, in addition to the plan’s governance and steering system, the same source adds, adding that this government plan, spread over 4 years, comprises 288 measures.

The Plan was drawn up using a participatory methodology, and included 5 consultation meetings with ministerial departments and national institutions, as well as 5 consultation meetings with associations of local authorities, civil society and the private sector, the press release points out. After discussion of the various components of the plan, the Head of Government called on the parties concerned to finalize the development of the related governance system and financing plan, with a view to presenting the plan to the Council of Government for adoption.

The meeting of the National Commission for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment was attended by members of the government, representatives of national institutions, presidents of associations of regional councils, councils of prefectures and provinces, communal councils, as well as the representative of the General Confederation Of Morocco’s Businesses and representatives of civil society associations members of the committee.
