Moroccan authorities arrest leader of one of Marseille’s main drug gangs in Casablanca

Members of the Investigations and Interventions Department of the National Judicial Police (BNPJ) arrested a 34-year-old French citizen, who is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities in cases related to the creation of criminal networks active in international drug trafficking.

The suspect was arrested on Friday, March 8 after a meticulous security operation, announced Moroccan authorities in a statement, as they aimed to monitor and identify all possible places of disappearance of the concerned person in several Moroccan cities, before he was found in Casablanca.

According to the preliminary data available, the now arrested French citizen Félix Bingui was internationally wanted under a red notice issued by Interpol, at the request of the French judicial authorities, on suspicion of running several criminal networks active in international drug trafficking and laundering the proceeds of crime.

The French suspect was taken into custody before being brought before the competent public prosecutor’s office in Casablanca on the morning of Saturday, March 9, pending extradition procedures.

Félix Bingui, head of the dangerous Yoda gang active in Marseille, fled to Morocco several months ago, according to French outlet Le Parisien.

The arrest of the suspect was the culmination of the security cooperation and information exchange between the services of the General Directorate of National Security and the French National Police, within the framework of international cooperation mechanisms in the security field.
