Morocco and China explore ways to strengthen trade relations

The governments pf Morocco and China are further strengthening commercial relations, as both countries held talks on Friday in Rabat, chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour and the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao.

This visit is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Morocco and China, states a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Welcoming the “quality of cooperation between the two countries”  in order to make the most of opportunities for synergy, the two countries agreed on the need to further strengthen their economic and commercial partnership, by part of an “innovative, coordinated, more effective and more impactful approach.”

Ryad Mezzour reiterated the necessity of a rethought Moroccan-Chinese commercial partnership approach, in favor of increased accessibility for Moroccan companies on the Chinese market, for shared competitiveness and which takes into account the challenges imposed by the current economic situation on the international level.

The objective is to develop a win-win commercial partnership while constantly ensuring an objective convergence of respective interests, stressed Mezzour.

Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao highlighted the interest that Morocco represents for China as a “competitive investment and production destination”, highlighting the opportunity to strengthen Morocco-Africa-China triangular cooperation for prosperity and competitiveness for all.
