Moroccan national team to face Angola, Mauritania in preparatory friendlies

The Moroccan national football team will face its Angolan counterpart next Friday, March 22, at the Grand Stadium in Agadir, in addition to a second match between the Atlas Lions and the Mauritania national team in the same stadium, on Tuesday, March 26.

The two friendly matches are part of the Moroccan national team’s preparations for upcoming events, the most important of which are the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Moroccan national team rose to 12th place in the global FIFA  ranking issued on Thursday, rising one spot higher than the last classification, which dates back to December.

Despite being eliminated from the final round of the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the Moroccan team gained one point to its score of 1,663.

The Atlas Lions maintained their lead in the African and Arab rankings, while the Senegal team remained in second place continentally (17 globally), Nigeria ranked third (28 globally), and Egypt fourth (36 globally), while the Ivorian team moved to become fifth continentally (39 globally).
