Moroccan government and Safran partner to foster the Kingdom’s aerospace industrial ecosystem

The Moroccan government sealed on Tuesday in Rabat an agreement with its long-standing partner in the aerospace sector Safran Group to promote and improve the Kingdom’s aerospace industrial ecosystem, according to a press release.

The agreement seeks to develop a quality local supply chain, including identifying and supporting the production capabilities of Safran’s suppliers and service providers.

It also strives to enhance research and technology activities, while also introducing new engineering services, to bring about activities of significant value.

The agreement is also envisaged to boost talents and competencies by reinforcing training and partnerships with engineering schools and universities.

The signing ceremony was attended by Abdellatif Miraoui, Minister of High Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Taoufiq Moucharraf, Secretary General at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and CEO of Safran Group Olivier Andriès.

In this regard, Miraoui commended Safran’s commitment to contributing to the development of the aerospace-dedicated sectors and collaborating with Moroccan universities in engineering, R&D, test benches, and simulation.

“The signing of this agreement today confirms the competitiveness of the Moroccan aerospace platform and demonstrates the confidence of global leaders such as Safran in Morocco,” said the Secretary-General at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

He added that this agreement would open new perspectives of collaboration in cutting-edge technology and increase production activities, engineering services, and Morocco’s skill development.

“Safran and the Moroccan government are writing a new chapter in their strategic partnership. It marks the continuity of a fruitful partnership focused on the development of a robust aerospace industrial ecosystem in Morocco,” commented the CEO of Safran Group.

Safran has been present in the Kingdom for 24 years. It is considered the leader in the aerospace sector and maintains strong partnerships with manufacturers in the sector, government institutions, and training centers in Morocco.
